On the 21st of June – the Big market in Latgale

At the castle hill of Ludza for the sixth year Latgalian and regional craftsmen, masters and singers come together to celebrate the Great Latgaļian market and the summer solstice (the midsummer) – on the 21st of June, 2014.

There you can see presentations of old crafts in the craft workshops, to find out the profession secrets from the masters, buy souvenirs for everyday life and for soul, to take part in old Latgalian games and battles, as well as sing and dance with Latgalian folk groups.

Early in the morning we will meet the sun, sing a song for it and celebrate the Midsummer Ligo Festival by ancient tradition. It will be interesting both for the old and the young.

Adults will be able to buy the delicious food for the festive table and have fun, the children will be able to ride the horses, to stroke animals and try to weave Jaņu wreaths of Latgalian plants in Nature school.

It will be really beautiful and musical Midsummer Festival on the castle hill in the oldest town in Latvia.
