Right after the national holiday of Latvia, residents and personnel of the Social care centre “Ludza” were pleasantly surprised. On the 6th of May, the centre had visitors – representatives of a Dutch charity foundation “Stichting Hulp Letland”, who donated a minibus to the institution.
The chairman of the foundation Joop Fuijkkink with his wife drove this bus from Holland themselves. The Fuijkkink family also handed over to the director of the centre Regina Borisova a money cheque in the amount of 1500 EUR. 500 EUR were donated for registration in Latvia and arrangement of documentation of the donated vehicle, and 1000 EUR – for the first trips of the centre residents and other needs. The cash was collected during a specially organized event. A minibus took other presents to Ludza as well, such as rollators, hygiene products, interior elements for the centre, uniforms for the sports school teams and skates for the pupils of Ludza music school.
At the moment of presenting the bus, Joop Fuijkkink wished the residents of the Social care centre to have interesting trips more often, go to church on Sundays, travel around their homeland and visit graves of their family members with the new bus. Singer and violinist Valerija Satibaldijeva prepared a wonderful musical surprise. Deputy chairman of the council of Ludza Municipality Edgars Mekss thanked the organization and the family of Satibaldijevi, greeted clients of the care centre, and shared municipality’s intentions for the future. The municipality has a plan of adjusting the donated vehicle to the needs of disabled people so that it is comfortable for transportation of passengers in wheelchairs and immobile passengers. The director of the social care centre Regina Borisova thanked the representatives of the charity foundation for the great present, as well as for their previous support and joy that they have given to the clients of the centre.
Charity foundation “Stichting Hulp Letland” with its chairman Joop Fuijkkink have been actively helping inhabitants of Latvia since 1993. Cooperation with the inhabitants and administration of Ludza municipality started 17 years ago. It has been successful and lasting thanks to Viktors Satibaldijevs initiative. The organization ensures humanitarian aid and financial aid to people who experience some kind of difficulties, as well as provides support to educational establishments.
Sincere gratitude to the activists of the charity foundation “Stichting Hulp Letland” and all people involved in the charity events in Holland!
