Before Christmas Ludza orphanage received gifts from our German friends -Luder city elementary school (Germany). 28 children aged 7 – 10 together with their teacher Ricarde Hagedorn prepared and made presents and wrote a heart letter of wishes and Christmas greetings that appears in their drawings for the Latvian children from the orphanage «Ābelīte». The orphans received the gifts at the New Year event on December 30. In the bright gift handbags were books in German , board games, pencils, pens , paints, various toys , knitted socks , puzzles , clothes , sweets – the children sincerely were happy for all these presents.
The children from Germany wrote: “The most real Christmas can only be, if you are together with your close people, and there is no feeling of loneliness. Presents, of course are fine, but ,in fact, the most pleasant time of expectation and anticipation, when you are thinking – I am wondering what’s inside?! Children of our school worked very hard and would like to give you this moment of happiness. Pupils of our small elementary school in Luder showed in their drawings the way they celebrate Christmas in Germany. May be you do it very differently. Do you celebrate this holiday together? We wish you all beautiful, joyful and happy holidays. We are thinking of you and send you our sincere congratulations. We are very pleased to collect and pack presents for you and we hope that they will please everyone!”
