For international experience – to Germany

From the 24th June until the 1st of July, 6 young people from Ludza, Cibla and Karsava municipalities participated in the international youth camp “Multicamp 2017”, which took place in Uelzen, Germany. In this camp, a meeting of young people of cooperation regions/towns of Uelzen (representatives from Poland, Belarus and, of course, Latvia – Ludza, Cibla and Karsava municipalities) was organized in order to learn something from one another, share experience, meet new people, develop communication skills and acquire other useful things. Topic of the camp was “Me in Europe”, and it gathered 40 young people. This week was full of creative workshops, common activities, trips, adventures and many nice discoveries. Yes, each of us was unique, different from others; however, there was a uniting factor – it doesn’t matter which country you come from, what matters is who and what you are as a person. Often we live in stereotypes, but this camp made us look wider and start thinking of many important issues.

Participant of the camp Agnese Kalvīte shares her memories: “I was in such a trip out of Latvia for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised at organization, responsiveness and hospitality from the German organizers’ part. Notwithstanding the fact that we, youth, were from various countries, communication was not a problem using English and German languages. Germans themselves also used both languages for communication since there were young people in the camp who didn’t speak German. A huge bonus was excursions to Uelzen and Hamburg, which helped us to get acquainted with Germany. After this trip, I can definitely say – I would go to Germany once again!”

Participant of the camp Madara Kozlova says: “This camp was a real challenge. For the first time, I had to speak all languages except my native one! We met many new people, which made us feel not only as part of Latvia but also as part of Europe. We also gained a lot of memorable impressions and adventures. We found out a lot about Germany. We learned its culture, traditions and people. We made many new friends. We hope to see all these people some time again. I would like to thank Solvita Binovska for being with us during the whole time of the camp. Huge thanks to all organizers of the camp and everyone who had something to do with this project. Thanks also to the teacher Liga Batna because knowledge gained at her German lessons were really useful in Germany.”

Tremendous thanks to the organizers of the camp: E. Bohne and International Cooperation Committee of Uelzen Region, Ch. Helms, S. Helms, A. Quednau, P. Hellström and all the creative team. Sincere thanks to Ludza Friends’ Club and to Thomas Grams in particular, as well as thanks to the above-mentioned municipalities and Children and Youth Centre of Ludza municipality for the provided support.
